OUR VILLAGE - OUR VOICE - OUR FUTURE

Have your say

"What is good about Aboyne now?"
"How could we make Aboyne better in the future?"

To help us understand what our community thinks is good about our village  but also where we can make improvements, the Local Place Plan team needed to know the aspirations and priorities of the people who live in, work in or regularly visit Aboyne

We asked for you for your feedback in an Autumn 2023 Community Survey, Spring 2024 Engagement and on the November 2024 Consultation Draft LPP - see below for more information

Autumn 2023 Community Survey

In September and October 2023 we asked all residents, businesses, clubs and  interest groups in Aboyne to complete a survey, and also people who visit and use the village

The survey was available online to everyone who lives, works in or visits Aboyne. We also distributed 1500 surveys to all households in Aboyne and Birsemore and through local businesses, who also kindly took in completed paper surveys - see below for the paper version of the survey

We were delighted to have received over 400 responses, which is a great result!

Survey questions

In our survey, we looked at 14 themes:

Moving around - Public transport - Traffic and parking - Streets and spaces - Natural space - Play and recreation - Facilities and services - Work and local economy - Housing and community - Social interaction - Identity and belonging - Feeling safe - Care and maintenance - Influence and sense of control

These themes are from "The Place Standard Tool", which guidance recommends. This tool is  widely respected for effective and objective community engagement

For more information on the  questions that we asked, see "Things to think about"

Aboyne Bridge

Aboyne Bridge was closed to vehicular traffic in November 2024 after our Autumn 2023 Survey was completed. However, we ensured that the significant impact of the bridge closure on our community was taken into account in the November 2024 Consultation Draft LPP (see below) and has been reflected in the final version of the plan

Spring 2024 Engagement

Alongside data such as national and local policies and statistical information about our area, we used the results of the Autumn 2023 survey to create a series of Initiatives which we shared with key stakeholders in our community during 2024 - see Spring 2024 Engagement - materials for the information shared

Consultation Draft LPP - November 2024

The Spring 2024 Engagement helped to shape the draft Local Place Plan for Aboyne which we shared with the community in November 2024 for final feedback. For more information - see Consultation Draft LPP
