OUR VILLAGE - OUR VOICE - OUR FUTURE

A Local Place Plan for Aboyne

Aboyne is OUR VILLAGE. We want OUR VOICE to be heard, so we can shape OUR FUTURE!

Work is ongoing on a Local Place Plan for Aboyne - a new type of plan which will help our community steer future development and support local projects

Latest News

Spring 2024

Since our survey closed in mid-October 2023, our team has been working hard to analyse all of your survey responses.  We had over 400  responses to the survey, including a significant number from younger people, with a total of 3,500 comments. This is a fantastic result, which demonstrates the importance of this plan to our community

We have been working hard to ensure that our analysis of the results is robust. We are now reaching out to the community to hear your views on the work so far.  Please see Spring 2024 Engagement - materials for draft Initiatives coming from the survey results and other data - we would love to hear what you think so please get in touch to let us know your views. We are also arranging some engagement sessions - if you would like to take part, please contact us

Aboyne Bridge

We are aware that our survey closed before the news about Aboyne Bridge was announced. An important question for us to consider is "What impact does this have on our survey results?"

The answer is that this survey has always been an important source of data informing the draft plan, but it has never been the only source - other data, such as national and local policies and statistical information, also need to be taken into consideration. The impact of the bridge closure is therefore something that we are also considering as we prepare the draft plan

Thank you!

An important THANK YOU to our community for pulling together on this project. We are grateful to everyone who helped spread the word about the survey - the local businesses who hosted and collected paper copies, the individuals who helped to distribute copies to every household and business in Aboyne, the businesses who put up posters, the community groups and individuals who helped by providing their time and/or equipment, and many more

Join us!

We welcome all community involvement and value new voices in our team. If you would like to help out, please get in touch!

If you have any questions or would like to be added to a news email distribution list, please contact us.

Why?

To ensure that local government takes account of OUR VOICE on OUR VILLAGE'S FUTURE in plans and decisions, and to support funding applications for community led projects. See Why it matters for how our community's VOICE has helped enhance Aboyne centre, improve road safety and much more in recent years

How?

The VOICES of local individuals, businesses and organisations will shape the new ABOYNE LOCAL PLACE PLAN which will then feed into the planning system and demonstrate community support. See Have your say for how your VOICE can make a difference

When?

We held a survey and some group sessions in autumn 2023 to hear the VOICES of our community. The results will feed into an initial plan which we will consult on early in 2024. After further community engagement, the final ABOYNE LOCAL PLACE PLAN will be available later in 2024, ensuring that OUR VILLAGE’S VOICE is included in the next Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan

Who?

Local community groups and individuals have come together to develop the new ABOYNE LOCAL PLACE PLAN. We are making a real effort to ensure that all VOICES are heard, from all parts of our community
