Progress is being made on several of the Initiatives identified in the Local Place Plan for Aboyne, by both Mid Deeside Community Council's Local Place Plan team and by local stakeholders in Aboyne
Work is ongoing on two important projects to improve communications in our community - a new Community Hub and a new Community Calendar!
Fantastic progress is being made towards establishing a Community Hub for Aboyne
The hub has received local and national public funding and will soon be up and running at The Victory Hall in the centre of Aboyne. The Community Hub will also have a website. Watch out for news on the Hub's opening very soon
Aboyne Community Trust has set up a wonderful new Community Calendar for Aboyne. The Aboyne Community Calendar brings local activities and events together in one simple hub, helping residents stay informed, strengthening community spirit, and giving organisers a clearer way to reach people. It is a straightforward, accessible way to find out what’s going on, where and when
If you organise events or activities that benefit the community, add your details to the calendar — it’s free, it’s local and it’s for everyone. For guidance on how to add an event to the calendar see the Calendar Instructions. To submit calendar entries, email details to Calendar@aboynecommunitytrust.org.uk
A new Aboyne Business Association is up and running, providing networking connections and mutual benefits for local businesses, and a voice for our business community
If you would like to join the network, Contact us and we will put you in touch
Key community stakeholders are now meeting regularly to share knowledge, strengthen connections and collaborate on shared goals for the benefit of the community
Strong connections are also being built with neighbouring areas, to help us work together to strengthen outcomes for each area's Local Place Plan or Community Action Plan
Aboyne bridge has now been closed for over two years (since November 2023). This closure has divided our community in half with devastating effects on local residents and businesses each side of the river, significantly impacting our economy and our health and well-being
Our community urgently needs positive action and investment by local and national government to reinstate or replace this vital community infrastructure as soon as possible for the long term. Our thanks to those in our community who are working hard to try to achieve this. If you can help in any way, Contact us and we will connect you with the relevant people
Aberdeenshire Council has started work on its next Local Development Plan (LDP), which will set the framework for development within Aberdeenshire from 2029 to 2039. To inform the new LDP, the council launched a Call for Ideas which closed on 31 October 2025 and a Call for Sites which closes on 16 March 2026. Because the Local Place Plan for Aboyne is registered as a Local Place Plan, Aberdeenshire Council must take it into account alongside other submissions to the Call for Ideas and the Call for Sites when preparing the LDP for 2029 to 2039. For more information on the LDP process, see here
Aboyne has many voluntary groups that need help in a variety of different ways. Please offer what time you can, whether by volunteering every now and then or by more actively participating
To ensure that local government takes account of OUR VOICE on OUR VILLAGE'S FUTURE in plans and decisions, and to support funding applications for community led projects. See Why it matters for how our community's VOICE has helped enhance Aboyne centre, improve road safety and much more in recent years
The VOICES of local individuals, businesses and organisations have shaped the new ABOYNE LOCAL PLACE PLAN which will feed into the planning system and demonstrate community support. See Have your say for how your VOICE has made a difference
We held a survey and group sessions in autumn 2023 to hear the VOICES of our community. The results fed into a series of Initiatives which we consulted on during spring 2024. We consulted on the draft plan November 2024. The final plan was published in December 2024 and registered in February 2025. OUR VOICE can now be heard in the preparation of the next Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan
Local community groups and individuals came together under Mid Deeside Community Council to develop the new ABOYNE LOCAL PLACE PLAN. We made a real effort to ensure that all VOICES were heard, from all parts of our community
Our community must now take positive action to implement the Initiatives and Proposals in the ABOYNE LOCAL PLACE PLAN. Everyone's help is needed. To get involved, in whatever way you can, please Contact us!
We welcome all community involvement and value new voices in our team. If you would like to help out, please Contact us!
